Aaron AbrahamMajor and Year: Industrial Engineering, Sophomore
Home Country: India, Qatar Favorite Hobbies: Swimming, Reading, Writing and watching Game of Thrones! Student Organizations I Belong To:
As a rising sophomore, I look back at the first day I set foot on this campus and I am glad of the journey I have undertaken until now. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the wonderful faculty and staff and the great set of friends I made during my first year. As an Indian living in Qatar, I always considered myself lucky for being able to experience a multi-cultural society. By attending Penn State, I realized that I not only get to experience a multi-cultural society but I get to ‘live’ in one. The orientation week was one of the highlights of my freshman year since I got to meet a bunch of great people and understand the intensity of college education. I believe that studying at Penn State not only expands your skill set to become a professional in a particular field (in my case, Industrial Engineering) but also develops a student into a global citizen |

You all are about to begin a new chapter of your lives. Some of you might be excited and some would be scared about being far away from your family, hometown and your school friends. Trust me, at first, this transition to college might be difficult to begin with but do not be afraid, everyone goes through this phase at some point in their lives. I would say enjoy the college life as much as you can. Make memories that you will cherish all your life and long lasting friends that will always be there for you in all times. You all have earned the opportunity to be part of a community of top-tier students and world-class faculty. You are soon going to become part of the biggest university in the world with the largest alumni. Here at Penn State you will be warmly welcomed and respected for who you are. You will have an amazing opportunity to make friends from different cultures and countries as diversity is welcomed at Penn State. I would say do not hesitate when you need help or guidance. The International Student Orientation week will allow you to meet people and I would suggest that you enjoy these days to the full. I would recommend going to all the events, talking to people since this will be the best time to make connections and also explore the campus. In case you guys have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me anywhere , I would be glad to help you guys in every way possible. This is my first year serving as an Orientation leader and I look forward to seeing you on campus. |
